Alaskan Props
One of the best if not the best place to still find those beautiful old propliners in daily service is Alaska, where they transport vital supplies to outlying communities. I have been there twice so far, once in 1990 and again in 1998. In this album you will find an overview of the various operators of these airliners I found then - some have vanished in the time between the two trips while others have entered the market as newcomers or subsidiaries of existing airlines.
I would like to once again thank all the people who escorted me out on their ramps or even let me check out the flightdeck of one of their airplanes; without them it would not have been possible to capture all those nice birds on film. Thanks guys - I'll be back!
