Swiss Int'l Air Lines

Short history of the airline:
SWISS (International Air Lines) is Switzerland's new intercontinental airline, formed by amalgamating profitable Crossair of Basel and the ashes of Swissair of Zurich when that airline went bankrupt in 2001. After many troubles in the first few years of operation with mismanagement (the same people that ruined Swissair were pulling the strings from behind the scenes again - that much for learning from history...), the general downturn in worldwide aviation, a therefore overdimensioned fleet mainly in the long-haul business and lots of housemade problems mainly with the two separate pilot unions of the ex Swissair and the ex Crossair pilots (who have been grossly discriminated), Lufthansa has finally taken over Swiss in 2005 and operates it as a separate business unit. Swiss has also joined the Star Alliance in the process. The take over deal was of course very favourable for Lufthansa, who bought Swiss for a song. After all its operational losses this makes the airline, which was a completely megalomaniac and politically influenced project from the very beginning, the largest "destroyer" of Swiss tax money (with which it was founded) ever - except our government of course...
